OUR STORY

History
We started operations in 2011 with the planting of conventional bananas at Finca La Inmaculada, a small farm located in the Simón Bolívar canton of the Guayas province. Soon, we began to expand with the purchase of the Domenica farm located in El Triunfo and the María del Pilar farm located in Soledad Chica, thus adding a total of 140 conventional hectares. In 2017, we decided to make a new investment, this time in the Santa Elena area, with the purchase of 300 hectares destined for the cultivation of organic bananas, by doing so we were able to diversify and reach new customers and markets.

Who we are?
We are producers and exporters of organic and conventional bananas, we believe that a high quality product can only grow if there is deep social and environmental care.

Our farms are highly technical and are located on the Ecuadorian coast, in the provinces of Guayas and Santa Elena. We currently have more than 350 employees, 340 ha. and a production of more than 960,000 boxes of bananas per year.

To be a worldwide benchmark for productivity, sustainability and excellent quality. At Mundo Banana, we focus on the continuous improvement of our processes to achieve the best quality standards, encouraging the use of good agricultural, environmental and labor practices, thus providing stability and well-being to our employees and the community.

FAIR TRADE

This certification helps people who grow the bananas we love. It grants to the workers that are grouped under the modality of Association, 100% of additional benefits to those granted by the Ecuadorian law. Likewise, the certification ensures compliance with high standards for caring for the environment and contributes to the development of the community surrounding the farm. Some of the positive actions that have been carried out include microcredits for our workers, free construction materials (for the construction of houses), school supplies, a fund for medical emergencies, etc.

SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY

At Mundo Banana we have a highly qualified team dedicated to ensuring that this pillar of our business model is applied in each and every one of our facilities and farms. This team is made up of an Industrial Safety Specialist and a Medical Department, who are in charge of ensuring the health and well-being of our employees through timely training, implementation of safety equipment and medical check-ups.

Our Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHS) seeks to cover issues related not only to safety and the work environment, but also to factors of personal, family and social care in order to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of our employees. In turn, the SSO program provides our workers with fundamental and useful information for the correct performance of their daily activities.
