This certification is a significant support for the banana growers we cherish. Grants 100% additional benefits to workers who are grouped under the Association modality granted by the Ecuadorian law. Moreover, the certification ensures compliance with environmental standards and fosters community development around the farms. Some of the initiatives we have implemented include micro-loans for our workers, free construction materials for housing, provision of school supplies, and a fund for medical emergencies.
We are producers and exporters of both organic and conventional bananas. At Mundo Banana, we firmly believe that a high-quality product can only flourish when accompanied by a strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
Mundo Banana embarked on its journey in 2011 with the cultivation of conventional bananas at Finca La Inmaculada, a small farm situated in the Simón Bolívar canton of Guayas province. As we gained momentum, we expanded our operations by acquiring the Doménica farm in El Triunfo, the María del Pilar and Amelia farm in Soledad Chica, encompassing a total of 250 hectares of conventional banana cultivation. In 2017, we made a strategic investment in the Santa Elena region, purchasing 300 hectares for organic banana production. This expansion allowed us to diversify our offerings and cater to new clients and markets.
At Mundo Banana, we have a highly skilled team dedicated to upholding the core principles of our business model across all our facilities and farms. This team consists of an Industrial Safety Specialist and a Medical Department, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our employees through comprehensive training, implementation of safety equipment, and regular medical check-ups.
Our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program goes beyond addressing safety and work environment concerns. It also encompasses personal, family, and social care factors to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of our team members. Additionally, our SSO (Safety, Health, and Environment) program equips our workers with essential knowledge for the effective execution of their daily tasks.
